## Probable cause

EXCESSIVE BRAKE APPLICATION BY THE PILOT IN COMMAND. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT WAS THE WIND GUSTS.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Nose over, landing - roll
  - weather condition - gusts (contributing factor)
  - brakes(normal) - excessive, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE CERTIFICATED ATP PILOT/OWNER STATED THAT SHE WAS ON LANDING ROLLOUT WHEN SHE HEARD ANOTHER AIRCRAFT REPORT TOUCH DOWN ON THE SAME RUNWAY. SHE ATTEMPTED TO EXPEDITE HER DEPARTURE FROM THE RUNWAY. WITH HEAVY APPLICATION OF BRAKES THE TAIL CAME UP. FULL BACK STICK AND A BURST OF ENGINE POWER WAS INSUFFICIENT TO COUNTERACT A GUST OF WIND, AND THE AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910622023169A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910622023169A), Jun 22, 1991: Waco YMF, Bullhead City, AZ, Substantial damage. Trying to expedite clearing runway for following traffic. Hit brakes too hard. Tail came up and nosed over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
