## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN AN ADEQUATE WING TIP CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE AIRCRAFT AND A DIRT BANK PARALLELING THE AIRSTRIP.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll
  - terrain condition - dirt bank/rising embankment
  - clearance - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - ground loop/swerve - inadvertent, pilot in command
- Main gear collapsed, landing - roll
  - landing gear,main gear attachment - overload

## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID THAT ON TOUCHDOWN THE LOWER LEFT WING CONTACTED A DIRT BANK WHICH SLEWED THE AIRCRAFT INTO A RIGHT SIDEWAYS SKID. THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR SEPARATED FROM THE AIRCRAFT. FAA INSPECTORS REPORTED NO PREIMPACT MECHANICAL FAILURES OR FAILURES.
