## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S IMPROPER COMPENSATION FOR THE WIND CONDITION, AND IMPROPER USE OF THE FLIGHT CONTROLS. CONTRIBUTING TO THIS ACCIDENT WAS THE CROSSWIND CONDITION AND THE COLLAPSING OF THE MAIN LANDING GEAR DUE TO OVERLOAD.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - weather condition - crosswind (contributing factor)
  - compensation for wind conditions - improper, pilot in command (cause)
  - flight controls - improper use of, pilot in command (cause)
- Main gear collapsed, landing - roll
  - landing gear, main gear - overload (contributing factor)

## Analysis

THE PILOT LANDED WITH A LEFT CROSSWIND AND FAILED TO COMPENSATE FOR THIS CONDITION AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN DIRECTION CONTROL THE PILOT APPLIED TOO MUCH THROTTLE AND RIGHT RUDDER CAUSING THE AIRPLANE TO SWERVE ON THE RUNWAY WHICH CAUSED THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR TO COLLAPSE DUE TO OVERLOAD.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
