## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. A FACTOR IN THE ACCIDENT WAS THE FAILURE OF THE LEFT BRAKE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - landing gear, normal brake system - inoperative (contributing factor)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
- On ground/water collision with object, landing - roll
  - object - vehicle

## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID HE WAS ON THE LANDING ROLL OUT WHEN HE APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE LEFT BRAKE FAILED TO OPERATE AND THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT, RAN OFF THE RUNWAY AND STRUCK A TRAILER WITH THE RIGHT WING. AN ANNUAL INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED ON THE AIRCRAFT ONE MONTH AND FIVE HOURS PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19921230052549A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19921230052549A), Dec 30, 1992: Varga 2150AMORISY, Salome, AZ, Substantial damage. Reported left brake failed on landing. Veered off runway. Wing struck a trailer. Brake failure not verified.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
