## Probable cause

LOSS OF ENGINE POWER FOR UNDETERMINED REASONS.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- In flight collision with object, descent - emergency
  - stall - intentional, pilot in command
  - object - fence

## Analysis

DURING A LANDING, THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO DRIFT OFF THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO GO AROUND. THE PILOT ADDED FULL POWER AND ROTATED THE AIRPLANE. AT ABOUT 75 FEET THE ENGINE QUIT, AND THE PILOT ELECTED TO STALL THE AIRPLANE IN ORDER TO MISS CARS ON A NEARBY ROADWAY. THE ENGINE WAS INSPECTED WITH NO MECHANICAL OR MALFUNCTIONS NOTED. THE PILOT REPORTEDLY HAD A TOTAL OF 5 HOURS OF FLIGHT TIME IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19930601016039A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19930601016039A), Jun 1, 1993: Amtrjr JURCASIROCCO, Bakersfield, CA, Substantial damage. Began go around due to drift on landing. Engine failed respond. Stalled to avoid vehicles on highway.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
