## Probable cause

The failure of the pilot to maintain directional control of the airplane during final approach.

## Findings

NTSB's coded findings; those marked are part of the probable cause.

- [Performance/control parameters: directional control](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-findings/01062020): Aircraft › Aircraft oper/perf/capability · Not attained/maintained (probable cause); cases with it: [Slip Stream GENNIS, 1 case](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-findings/01062020/cases.md?model=05902L5), [All aircraft, 3,958 cases](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-findings/01062020/cases.md)

## Sequence of events

The events NTSB coded, in order, by phase of flight. The defining event best describes what happened.

- [Uncontrolled descent: Collision with terr/obj (non-CFIT) ](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-events/470); cases with it: [Slip Stream GENNIS, 2 cases](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-events/470/sequence.md?model=05902L5), [All aircraft, 10,189 cases](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb-events/470/sequence.md)

## Analysis

The pilot reported that while on final approach at approximately 25 feet above ground level, for a third touch-and-go landing on runway 17, the airplane suddenly yawed 90 degrees to the right. He applied full power and the engine responded, but the airplane contacted the ground, bounced, then was, "...pushed to the ground." The airplane collided with bushes then came to rest. He further stated there was no mechanical failure or malfunction.
