## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with terrain/water, takeoff
  - reason for occurrence undetermined (cause)

## Analysis

THE AIRCRAFT CRASHED WHILE THE PILOT WAS APPARENTLY ATTEMPTING TO RETURN TO LAND AFTER TAKEOFF. NO RADIO CALLS WERE MADE, BUT LANDING GEAR HAD BEEN LOWERED. HIGH SPEED AND EXCESSIVE RATE OF DESCENT ARE NOT CONSISTANT WITH A NORMAL OR EVEN EMERGENCY ATTEMPT TO LAND BY A QUALIFIED PILOT. NO MALFUNCTIONS OR DISCREPANIES COULD BE FOUND TO EXPLAIN THE ABNORMAL FLIGHT PATTERN.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19821230070049A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19821230070049A), Dec 30, 1982: Cessna 310R, Ft Lauderdale, FL, Destroyed. Aircraft climbed to 300 or 400 feet and then descended in left turn until it crashed. No malfunction found.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
