## Analysis

THE NON-CERTIFICATED STUDENT PLT WAS MAKING AN UNAUTHORIZED NIGHT SOLO X-COUNTRY FLT. HE ATTEMPTED A LANDING AT HIS DESTINATION WITH A LEFT 60 DEG, 12 KT X-WIND. DURING THE LANDING ROLL THE ACFT VEERED TO THE RIGHT AND THE PLT CORRECTEDBY APPLYING 'EXTREME' LEFT RUDDER. THE ACFT THEN VEERED OFF THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RWY, STRIKING THE RWY EDGE LIP WHICH COLLAPSED THE NOSE GEAR. THE PLT STATED THAT DURING THE LANDING ROLL, WIND SHEAR WAS ENCOUNTERED WHICH RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF DIRECTIONAL CONTROL. HOWEVER; NEITHER WIND GUSTS OR WIND SHEAR WERE REPORTED BY TOWER PERSONNEL OR OTHER ACFT OPERATING IN THE AREA AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19860328039339A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19860328039339A), Mar 28, 1986: Blanca 1730A, Ft Lauderdale, FL, Substantial damage. Ran off runway side. Hit lip of runway trying to get back on runway, collapsed landing gear. No pilot certificate.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
