## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Main gear collapsed, landing - flare/touchdown
  - landing gear,main gear - failure,total (cause)
  - procedures/directives - exceeded, pilot in command (cause)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll

## Analysis

WHILE ON AN ON-DEMAND AIR-TAXI FLIGHT THE PILOT NOTED THAT AT TOUCHDOWN THE RT MAIN GEAR WAS COLLAPSING. HE EXECUTED A GO-AROUND AND ATTEMPTED TO LOWER THE GEAR MANUALLY, BUT COULD NOT. THE PILOT THEN SHUT DOWN THE RIGHT ENGINE AND FEATHERED THE RIGHT PROPELLER AND LANDED. THE RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED UPON LANDING ROLL. EXAMINATION REVEALED THAT THE ADJUSTABLE SCREW ON THE DOWNLOCK BRACE FAILED IN BENDING OVERLOAD.

## Other investigations on N2638N (2)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA89LA075](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA89LA075), Jan 28, 1989: Cessna T310R (N2638N), Pensacola, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN THE PROPER AIRSPEED DURING THE APPROACH RESULTING IN LANDING SHORT OF THE RUNWAY AND FAILURE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DURING THE LANDING ROLL.
