## Probable cause

SEIZURE OF THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WHEEL. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS WERE: THE PARKED AIRCRAFT AND VEHICLE (CAR) NEAR THE RUNWAY.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Airframe/component/system failure/malfunction, landing - roll
  - landing gear,wheel - seized (cause)
- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - directional control - not possible
  - ground loop/swerve - uncontrolled
- On ground/water collision with object, landing
  - object - aircraft parked/standing (contributing factor)
  - object - vehicle (contributing factor)

## Analysis

THE PLT STATED THAT DRG THE LNDG ROLL, THE AIRPLANE SWERVED TO THE LEFT & COLLIDED WITH A PARKED AIRPLANE & A CAR. AN EXAM OF THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR SHOWED EVIDENCE OF A WHEEL SEIZURE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19891105047719A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19891105047719A), Nov 5, 1989: Amtrkr LARKJK1, Homestead, FL, Substantial damage. Lost control on landing roll and struck a parked aircraft. Wheel bearing on left main gear had seized.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
