## Probable cause

LOSS OF AIR PRESSURE IN THE LEFT MAIN TIRE DURING FLIGHT, WHICH RESULTED IN A GROUND SWERVE DURING THE LANDING AND A NOSE OVER AS THE PILOT WAS CORRECTING WITH OPPOSITE BRAKE AND RUDDER.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Airframe/component/system failure/malfunction, unknown
  - landing gear,tire - no pressure (cause)
- Nose over, landing - roll
  - ground loop/swerve
  - remedial action - attempted, pilot in command

## Analysis

THE LEFT MAIN LANDING GEAR TIRE DEFLATED IN FLIGHT. DURING THE LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT & SUBSEQUENTLY NOSED OVER AS THE PILOT WAS APPLYING RIGHT RUDDER & BRAKE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900112000509A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900112000509A), Jan 12, 1990: Beech E18S, Wauchula, FL, Substantial damage. Left main tire ruptured on landing roll. Used brakes to steer. Aircraft nosed over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
