## Probable cause

THE NO. 6 CYLINDER WHICH CRACKED ACROSS THE TOP FROM ONE SPARK PLUG HOLE TO THE OTHER, RESULTING IN THE LOSS OF ENGINE POWER.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power, takeoff - initial climb
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- Nose over, landing - flare/touchdown

## Analysis

SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, THE PLT REPORTED THAT THE ENG LOST POWER. HE THEN DUMPED THE LOAD OF CHEMICAL & AFTER TOUCHDOWN IN THE PLOWED FIELD DURING THE FORCED LANDING, THE ACFT NOSED OVER. EXAM OF THE ENG REVEALED THAT THE NO.6 CYLINDER CRACKED ACROSS THE TOP FROM ONE SPARK PLUG HOLE TO THE OTHER. THIS RESULTED IN THE LOSS OF POWER.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
