## Probable cause

THE PILOTS FAILURE TO FLARE THE AIRCRAFT FOR LANDING RESULTING IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR CONTACTING THE RUNWAY CAUSING IT TO SEPARATE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Nose gear collapsed, landing - flare/touchdown
  - flare - delayed, pilot in command (cause)
- Nose over, taxi
  - judgment - poor, pilot in command

## Analysis

THE ACFT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE NOSE LANDING GEAR FIRST WHICH CAUSED IT TO COLLAPSE. THE PLT ATTEMPTED TO MANEUVER THE ACFT OFF THE RWY & WHILE DOING SO, THA ACFT NOSED OVER AFTER THE BROKEN STRUT SANK IN SOFT SAND.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900324030489A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900324030489A), Mar 24, 1990: Beech B19, Everglades, FL, Substantial damage. Landed hard on nose wheel which caused nose gear to collapse and aircraft to flip over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
