## Probable cause

OVERLOAD FAILURE OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR RESULTING IN THE COLLAPSE OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR DURING THE LANDING ROLL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Nose gear collapsed, landing - roll
  - landing gear,nose gear - overload (cause)
- Main gear collapsed, landing - roll
  - gear retraction - initiated, pilot in command

## Analysis

AFTER A REPORTED NORMAL TOUCHDOWN, THE PLT APPLIED REVERSE THRUST & STATED THAT THE NOSE LANDING GEAR FELL LOWER THAN NORMAL. HE THEN RECYCLED THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR HANDLE & THE MAIN LANDING GEARS COLLAPSED. THE ACFT SLID TO A STOP & ALL OCCUPANTS EXITED SAFELY. EXAM OF THE ACFT REVEALED THAT THE UPPER DRAG LEG OF THE NOSE LANDING GEAR ASS'Y FAILED DUE TO OVERLOAD. NO DETERMINATION COULD BE MADE AS TO THE REASON FOR THE OVERLOAD FAILURE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910504014089A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910504014089A), May 4, 1991: Beech F90, Key West, FL, Substantial damage. Nose gear collapsed landing. Put gear up collapsing mains. Nose gear drag link failed due to overload.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
