## Probable cause

LOSS OF ENGINE POWER DUE TO UNDETERMINED REASONS, FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN VSO, AND INADVERTENT STALL MUSH. CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACCIDENT WAS LACK OF TOTAL EXPERIENCE IN THE TYPE OF OPERATION.

## Analysis

THE PLT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF, THE ACFT WAS NOT CLIMBING PROPERLY AND THE LT WING DROPPED. THE ACFT THEN COLLIDED WITH TREES AND THE GROUND. THE ENG WAS REMOVED AND PLACED ON A TEST STAND FOR AN OPERATIONAL TEST. THE ENG STARTED AND OPERATED TO NEARLY FULL STATIC RPM WITH NO MALFUNCTIONS NOTED. THE ACFT'S FLT CONTROLS WERE EXAMINED BY AN FAA AIRWORTHINESS INSPECTOR AND FOUND TO BE FREE OF PREIMPACT FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION. THE STALL WARNING HORN WAS TESTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910720028809A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910720028809A), Jul 20, 1991: Cessna 152, Hilliard, FL, Substantial damage. Uncontrolled bank to left on climbout. Struck trees. No defects. Quartering tailwind indicated on takeoff.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
