## Probable cause

COLLAPSE OF THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR TIRE DUE TO UNDETERMINED REASONS.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, takeoff - roll/run
  - landing gear,tire - collapsed (cause)
  - landing gear,tire - undetermined (cause)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, takeoff - aborted
  - terrain condition - ditch

## Analysis

DURING THE GROUND ROLL TO TAKEOFF, THE RT MAIN LANDING GEAR TIRE DEFLATED. THE ACFT TRAVELLED OFF THE RWY INTO A DITCH. THE LT WING WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. EXAM OF THE TIRE REVEALED THAT IT WAS CUT FROM ONE SIDE OF THE BEAD ACROSS TO THE OTHER. NO DETERMINATION COULD BE MADE AS TO THE REASON FOR THE CUT TIRE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920916036919A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920916036919A), Sep 16, 1992: Ayres S2*, Belzoni, MS, Substantial damage. Lost directional control on takeoff roll. Ran off runway into a ditch. Found right main tire cut from bead to bead.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
