## Probable cause

THE PILOT IN COMMAND'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN AIRSPEED (VSO) DURING A GO AROUND, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF CONTROL (STALL), AND SUBSEQUENT ON GROUND COLLISION WITH A PARKED AIRPLANE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, go-around (vfr)
  - airspeed(vso) - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall - inadvertent, pilot in command
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled
- On ground/water collision with object, landing - roll
  - object - other
  - object - aircraft parked/standing

## Analysis

THE AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT WAS ON FINAL APPROACH FOR LANDING WHEN HE INITIATED A GO AROUND AT ABOUT 5 FEET ABOVE THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE OF THE AIRPLANE PITCHED UP, THE AIRPLANE STALLED, AND A RECOVERY WAS ACCOMPLISHED TO THE GRASS. THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED ACROSS THE GRASS, CROSSED A DRAINAGE DITCH, COLLAPSED THE LANDING GEAR, AND COLLIDED WITH A PARKED AIRPLANE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920920037629A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920920037629A), Sep 20, 1992: Amtrpa PUSHER, Plant City, FL, Substantial damage. Pitched up and stalled on an attempted go around. Failed to retrim for go around. Had nose up trim.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
