## Probable cause

THE FAILURE OF CONTRACT MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL TO COMPLY WITH WRITTEN MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS, RESULTING IN THE FAILURE OF THE NOSE GEAR ON LANDING ROLL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Nose gear collapsed, landing - roll
  - landing gear,normal retraction/extension assembly - failure,partial
  - maintenance, installation - improper, other maintenance personnel (cause)
  - procedures/directives - not followed, other maintenance personnel (cause)

## Analysis

THE CREW REPORTED THAT THE NOSE GEAR FAILED ON LANDING ROLL AND RETRACTED. EXAMINATION OF THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY REVEALED THAT THE CHAMFERED BUSHES ATTACHING THE CABLE LUG TO THE NOSE GEAR PULLEY WERE INSTALLED 90 DEGREES FROM THE CORRECT POSITION, EXERTING UNEVEN LOADS ON THE CABLE WHERE IT FAILED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
