## Probable cause

FAILURE OF THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND TO FOLLOW THE CHECKLIST AND COMPLACENCY OF THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND FOR FAILURE TO EXTEND THE LANDING GEAR BEFORE LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Gear not extended, landing - flare/touchdown
  - checklist - not followed, pilot in command (cause)
  - complacency, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- Miscellaneous/other, landing - aborted

## Analysis

THE CAPTAIN STATED THAT WHILE ON A VISUAL APCH TO THE RWY WITH THE FIRST OFFICER FLYING THE ACFT, THEIR ATTENTION WAS DIVERTED TO THE GUSTY WIND CONDITION. THEY REALIZED THE GEAR WAS NOT EXTENDED AFTER HEARING A SCRAPING SOUND AND THE CAPTAIN TOOK CONTROL OF THE ACFT AND COMPLETED AN UNEVENTFUL LANDING. THE LANDING GEAR SYS WAS CHECKED AFTER THE ACCIDENT & THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION.
