## Analysis

THE PRIVATE PILOT WAS IN CRUISE FLIGHT IN VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS AT 6,500 FEET MSL WHEN THE AIRPLANE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ENGINE OIL, AND A SUBSEQUENT ENGINE SEIZURE. THE PILOT CONTACTED DAYTONA APPROACH CONTROL, DECLARED AN EMERGENCY, AND CONDUCTED A FORCED LANDING INTO THE TREES. EXAMINATION OF THE ENGINE ASSEMBLY AND ACCESSORIES REVEALED THE OIL COOLER LINE AT THE ADEL CLAMP HAD FAILED FOR UNDETERMINED REASONS.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19930220003049A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19930220003049A), Feb 20, 1993: Piper PA28140, Bunnell, FL, Substantial damage. Lost oil pressure. Engine seized. Landed in trees. Oil cooler line ruptured at the adel clamp.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
