## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(total) - mech failure/malf, maneuvering - aerial application
  - fuel system,pump - failure,total (cause)
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
- Nose over, landing - roll
  - terrain condition - soft (contributing factor)

## Analysis

THE PILOT SAID THE ENGINE QUIT ABRUBTLY DURING AN AERIAL APPLICATION TURN AROUND MANEUVER. HE ATTEMPTED TO LAND IN A NEARBY FARM FIELD AND BECAUSE OF THE SOFT TERRAIN CONDITIONS, THE ACFT NOSED OVER DURING THE ROLL OUT. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED A BROKEN DRIVE SHAFT ON THE FUEL PUMP, CAUSING FUEL STARVATION TO THE POWER PLANT.

## Other investigations on N3682X (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB FTW91DPG20](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/FTW91DPG20), Sep 25, 1991: Ayres S2R (N3682X), Dumas, AR, substantial damage. Probable cause: THE FAILURE OF A WORN RUDDER ADJUSTMENT BAR. A FACTOR WAS THE PILOT'S INABILITY TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL.
