## Probable cause

THE PILOT FAILED TO ATTAIN THE PROPER TOUCHDOWN POINT AND THE DELAYED INITIATION OF THE GO-AROUND. CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACCIDENT WAS THE FENCE STRUCK DURING THE ABORTED LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with object, landing - aborted
  - object - fence (contributing factor)
  - proper touchdown point - not attained, pilot in command (cause)
  - go-around - delayed, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE COMMERCIAL PILOT WAS FLYING A RECENTLY REFURBISHED AERIAL APPLICATION ACFT TO A PRIVATE STRIP, 1400 FEET LONG. WITNESSES SAID THAT THE ACFT TOUCHED DOWN LONG, ABOUT HALF WAY, ON THE WET, GRASS RUNWAY, ATTEMPTED TO STOP, THEN ATTEMPTED A GO- AROUND. DURING THE GO-AROUND ATTEMPT, THE ACFT'S MAIN GEAR COLLIDED WITH A FENCE, AND THE ACFT FLIPPED INVERTED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900124001089A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900124001089A), Jan 24, 1990: Scwzer G164B, Conway, AR, Substantial damage. Ferrying refurbished ag craft to home strip. Landed long wet grass. Tried belated go around. Hit fence. Flipped.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
