## Probable cause

FAILURE OF THE PILOT TO MAINTAIN PROPER RUNWAY ALIGNMENT, WHICH RESULTED IN AN ENCOUNTER WITH SOFT/WET (MUDDY) TERRAIN AND A SUBSEQUENT NOSE OVER OF THE AIRCRAFT.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing
  - proper alignment - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - terrain condition - soft (contributing factor)
  - terrain condition - wet (contributing factor)
- Nose over, landing

## Analysis

THE COMMERCIAL PILOT SAID THAT WHILE LANDING, DURING AN AERIAL APPLICATION OPERATION, DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WAS LOST AND THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR ENCOUNTERED SOFT MUDDY CONDITIONS WHICH RESULTED IN A NOSE OVER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900327007969A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900327007969A), Mar 27, 1990: Scwzer G164B, Newport, AR, Substantial damage. Lost directional control landing, right main wheel encountered soft mud and aircraft nosed over.

## Other investigations on N3630U (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
