## Probable cause

PILOT IN COMMAND'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL DURING THE LANDING ROLL. RELATED TO THE ACCIDENT WAS TALL GRASS AND SOFT TERRAIN.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - terrain condition - soft (contributing factor)
  - terrain condition - high vegetation (contributing factor)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
- Nose over, landing - roll

## Analysis

DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE PRIVATE PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL WHEN THE AIRCRAFT ENCOUNTERED TALL GRASS AND SOFT SURFACE CONDITIONS ON THE PRIVATE SOD STRIP. THE AIRCRAFT SPUN AROUND AND NOSED OVER.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19900506017229A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900506017229A), May 6, 1990: Bbavia 7KCAB, Scott, AR, Substantial damage. Lost directional control in tall grass and soft surface landing on Private strip. Spun around. Nosed over.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
