## Analysis

A COMMERCIALLY RATED PLT (STUDENT) WAS RECEIVING MULTI-ENG TRAINING FROM AN INSTRUCTOR PLT (CFI). THE STUDENT STATED THAT ON FINAL APCH TO LANDING, HE NOTICED THE AIRSPEED WAS SLOW WHEN THE CFI SHUT DOWN THE RIGHT ENG BY USING THE MIXTURE CONTROL. THE ACFT THEN ENTERED A STALL & SUBSEQUENTLY IMPACTED NOSE LOW IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA. THE STUDENT WAS WEARING HIS SHOULDER HARNESS & SURVIVED THE ACCIDENT WITH EXTENSIVE LACERATIONS & A BROKEN NOSE. THE CFI WAS NOT WEARING HIS SHOULDER HARNESS; HE SUFFERED MULTIPLE HEAD WOULDS & DIED ABOUT 2 HRS LATER. AN EXAM OF THE ACFT REVEALED NO PREIMPACT PART FAILURE OR MALFUNCTION.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19840222004249A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840222004249A), Feb 22, 1984: Beech 76, Beverly, MA, Destroyed. Instructor closed mixture for single engine landing. Stalled, hit trees, ground.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
