## Analysis

THE MOTORGLIDER LOST POWER AFTER TAKEOFF. ACCORDING TO THE PLT THE TAKEOFF SEEMED LONG BUT HE DID NOT ABORT BECAUSE THISWAS HIS FIRST SELF-LAUNCH AND HE WAS UNSURE OF THE OPERATION. ABOUT 200 FT AGL A TURN WAS MADE TO THE EAST TO RETURN TO THE ARPT AND THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SPUTTER. MANIPULATION OF THE THROTTLE RESTORED SMOOTH OPERATION BUT SUBSEQUENTLY AS THEACFT LOST ALT THE THROTTLE WAS ADVANCED AND THE ENGINE QUIT. A FORCED LANDING IN AN OPEN FIELD RESULTED IN A GROUND LOOP.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19840708033579A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840708033579A), Jul 8, 1984: Scbflg SF27M, Grove City, PA, Substantial damage. Self launching glider engine lost power after takeoff. Crash occurred during emergency landing.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
