## Probable cause

FAILURE OF THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND TO MAINTAIN AIRSPEED AFTER TAKEOFF. A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR WAS THE THE UPSLOPE GRADIENT OF THE RUNWAY.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, takeoff - initial climb
  - airport facilities,runway/landing area condition - uphill (contributing factor)
  - airspeed - not maintained, pilot in command(cfi) (cause)
  - stall/mush - inadvertent, pilot in command(cfi)
- In flight collision with object, takeoff - initial climb
  - object - tree(s)

## Analysis

THE AIRPLANE TOOK OFF FROM A GRASS STRIP WITH AN UPHILL SLOPE. AFTER GETTING AIRBORNE, THE AIRPLANE SETTLED INTO TREES OFF THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE HAD JUST BEEN FUELED TO 36 GALLONS, AND THE TWO PILOTS WEIGHED APRX 180 LBS EACH.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
