## Probable cause

THE PILOT DID NOT OBTAIN THE PROPER TOUCHDOWN POINT WHICH RESULTED IN AN OVERRUN. THE FACTORS WERE ALTITUDE, WET RUNWAY, AND GO AROUND NOT PERFORMED.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Overrun, landing - roll
  - altitude - excessive, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - proper touchdown point - not obtained, pilot in command (cause)
  - terrain condition - wet (contributing factor)
  - go-around - not performed, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- On ground/water collision with object, landing - roll
  - object - tree(s) (contributing factor)
  - object - residence (contributing factor)

## Analysis

DURING A VFR APPROACH THE AIRPLANE LANDED LONG, RAN OFF THE END OF THE RUNWAY, AND DOWN A SLIGHT EMBANKMENT. THE AIRPLANE COLLIDED WITH A TREE AND THEN A MOBILE HOME LOCATED 50 FEET PAST THE END OF THE RUNWAY.

- [Accident 19900804030269A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19900804030269A), Aug 4, 1990: Piper PA28140, Tunkhannock, PA, Substantial damage. Landed long on wet grass strip. Overran runway and down an embankment.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
