## Analysis

THE AIRPLANE WAS REFUELED WITH 8.5 GALLONS TWO DAYS BEFORE THE ACCIDENT AND HAD BEEN FLOWN 1.5 HOURS SINCE THAT TIME. THE PILOT TOOKOFF AND WAS HEARD ON THE RADIO TO SAY 'CLEAR THE RUNWAY.' A WITNESS SAW N704MV OVERFLY THE RUNWAY AT AN 'EXCESSIVE SPEED' AND EXECUTE A GO AROUND. THE WITNESS STATED THE AIRPLANE MADE A 60 DEGREE BANK TURN TO FINAL APPROACH AND THEN PITCH 30 DEGREES NOSE DOWN. A TOTAL OF APPROXIMATELY 4 GALLONS OF FUEL WERE DRAINED FROM BOTH WING TANKS. THE CESSNA 150 HAS AN UNUSABLE FUEL QUANTITY OF 1.25 GALLONS IN EACH WING TANK.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19910823036539A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19910823036539A), Aug 23, 1991: Cessna 150M, Matawan, NY, Substantial damage, 1 fatal. Took off sans fuel check. Lost power on climbout. Stalled out of steep turn trying make runway. No useable fuel.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
