## Analysis

THE PILOT REPORTED THE WINDS WERE FROM 190 DEGREES AT 14 KNOTS AND HE WAS LANDING ON RUNWY 10, THE ONLY RUNWAY AT THE AIRPORT. THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED AND CONTINUED DOWN THE RUNWAY ACCORDING TO THE PVT PILOT IN THE LEFT FRONT SEAT. THE PVT PILOT IN THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT SAID THE APPROACH WAS HIGH AND AFTER TOUCHDOWN, THE AIRPLANE DRIFTED NORTH OF THE RUNWAY. HE TOOK CONTROL AND INITIATED A GO-AROUND. DURING THE GO-AROUND, THE AIRPLANE CLEARED POWERLINES, STALLED, AND IMPACTED IN AN OPEN FIELD. AIRPORTS NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE ACCIDENT AIRPORT REPORTED WINDS WITH GUSTS THAT EXCEEDED THE MAXIMUM DEMONSTRATED CROSSWIND COMPONENT OF 15 KNOTS FOR THE AIRPLANE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19911212055729A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19911212055729A), Dec 12, 1991: Cessna 172M, Lockport, NY, Substantial damage. Lost control crosswind landing. Pilot passenger took controls, tried go around, went over powerlines, stalled, crashed.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
