## Probable cause

INADEQUATE VISUAL LOOKOUT BY THE PILOT WHICH RESULTED IN THE GLIDER STRIKING A VEHICLE PARKED NEXT TO THE RUNWAY.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- On ground/water collision with object, takeoff - roll/run
  - object - vehicle (contributing factor)
  - visual lookout - inadequate, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

THE GLIDERS INITIATE THEIR TAKEOFF FROM THE PARKING AREA AND MOVE ON TO THE RUNWAY AS THEY ARE TOWED BY THE TOW PLANE. A VEHICLE WAS LEFT PARKED NEXT TO THE RUNWAY BETWEEN A GLIDER AND THE TOW PLANE. AS THE GLIDER WAS BEING TOWED, AND MOVED ONTO THE RUNWAY, THE LEFT WING STRUCK THE UNOCCUPIED VEHICLE.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
