## Probable cause

THE PILOT ALLOWED THE AIRSPEED TO GET EXCESSIVE, RESULTING IN THE AIRPLANE TOUCHING DOWN TOO LONG AND TOO FAST.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Overrun, landing - roll
  - airspeed - excessive, pilot in command (cause)
  - proper touchdown point - not obtained, pilot in command (cause)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll
  - terrain condition - high vegetation
- Nose over, landing - roll

## Analysis

THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRPLANE LONG ON A 2500 FOOT RUNWAY, BOUNCED ON INITIAL TOUCHDOWN AND COULD NOT STOP THE AIRPLANE BEFORE IT OVERRAN THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT, AND NOSED OVER.

- [Accident 19920808029809A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920808029809A), Aug 8, 1992: Beech C24R, Eliot, ME, Substantial damage. Landed fast on short runway. Unable to stop ran down embankment. At end runway and overturned into bushes.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
