## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN AIRSPEED WHICH RESULTED IN AN INADVERTENT STALL/SPIN. FACTORS RELATED TO THE ACCIDENT WERE THE PILOT'S OVERCONFIDENCE IN HIS ABILITIES, AND BUZZING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - in flight, maneuvering
  - buzzing - intentional, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - overconfidence in personal ability, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - airspeed - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - stall/spin - inadvertent, pilot in command (cause)
- In flight collision with object, descent - uncontrolled
  - object - utility pole

## Analysis

THE PILOT FLEW LOW AND MADE STEEP BANKED TURNS OVER HIS FATHER'S HOUSE. DURING ONE STEEP TURN, THE AIRPLANE STALLED AND ENTERED AN INADVERTENT STALL/SPIN. DURING THE DESCENT, THE AIRPLANE STRUCK A UTILITY POLE AND THEN THE GROUND.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920823032539A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920823032539A), Aug 23, 1992: Tcraft BC65, Suffren, NY, Destroyed. Flew low steep turns over fathers house. Stalled spun. Struck power pole and ground. Acellerated stall indicated.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
