## Probable cause

THE PILOT FAILED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE, WHICH RESULTED IN THE AIRPLANE DEPARTING THE RUNWAY AND STRIKING A TREE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, takeoff - roll/run
  - diverted attention, pilot in command
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command
- On ground/water collision with object, takeoff - roll/run
  - object - tree(s)

## Analysis

DURING TAKE-OFF THE PILOT'S ATTENTION WAS DIVERTED TO THE TRIM WHEEL. AS THE AIRPLANE WAS ROLLING FOR TAKEOFF THE PILOT CONTINUED TO TRIM, THE AIRPLANE VEERED OFF THE RUNWAY AND STRUCK A TREE.
