## Analysis

THE PILOT CALCULATED THE WEIGHT OF HIS AIRCRAFT TO BE 90 POUNDS BELOW THE MAXIMUM GROSS WEIGHT. THE AIRPORT DENSITY ALTITUDE WAS CALCULATED TO BE APPROXIMATELY 5000 FEET. THE PILOT STATED THAT AFTER TAKEOFF THE AIRCRAFT ACHIEVED AN ALTITUDE OF 50 TO 100 FEET AGL AT BEST. THE SURROUNDING TERRAIN EXCEEDED THE CLIMB RATE OF THE AIRCRAFT AND A FORCED LANDING WAS EXECUTED IN AN AREA OF SMALL TREES AND SCRUB GROWTH. THE AIRCRAFT NOSED OVER DURING THE GROUND SLIDE. A POST CRASH FIRE DESTROYED THE AIRCRAFT AND APPROXIMATELY ONE ACRE OF TREES.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19820716041689A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19820716041689A), Jul 16, 1982: Gulstm AA5A, Toketee, OR, Destroyed. Took off downwind on upslope runway unable to clear wooded rising terrain. Crashed into trees. Inverted and burned.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
