## Analysis

THE ACFT COLLIDED WITH POWER LINES DURING A TAKEOFF FROM A REMOTE LOGGING CAMP. THE PLT REPORTED HEARING A LOUD BANG DURING TAKEOFF. HE SAID THAT THE ACFT PITCHED RIGHT AND NOSED DOWN. 'THE ACFT SPUN TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT POWER. THE ACFT CAME TO REST INVERTED.' AN INSPECTION OF THE WRECKAGE BY FAA SHOWED SEVERAL AREAS WHERE COPPER WIRE WAS IMBEDDED IN A ROTOR BLADE AND A LANDING SKID. THE TAIL BOOM WAS ALSO MARKED BY WHAT APPEARED TO BE WIRE STRIKES. THE PLT REPORTED NO POWER LOSS OR MALFUNCTION. WITNESSES AT THE SITE SAID SEVERAL POWER LINES NEAR THE ACCIDENT SITE HAD BEEN SEVERED.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19841105062529A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19841105062529A), Nov 5, 1984: Hiller UH12E, Lakeside, OR, Destroyed. Aircraft collided with powerlines while transitioning to horizontal flight in remote area.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
