## Analysis

THE ACFT HAD DESCENDED TO ABOUT 900 AGL AFTER PASSING THROUGH ICING CONDITIONS WITH A LIGHT ACCUMULATION OF ICE. WHEN THE LANDING GEAR WAS LOWERED THE ACFT STARTED YAWING AND THE ACFT ENGINE INSTRUMENTS WERE FLUCUATING. THE PLT THOUGHT THAT THE ENGINES WERE SURGING. THE ACFT WAS LANDED ABOUT 700 FT SHORT OF THE RWY IN SAGEBRUSH WHICH COLLAPSED THE LANDING GEAR. NO REASON FOR THE ENGINE MALFUNCTION WAS FOUND. THE COWL FLAPS WERE CLOSED ON THE RIGHT ENGINE AND OPEN ON THE LEFT ENGINE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19841130064259A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19841130064259A), Nov 30, 1984: Cessna 310R, Pocatello, ID, Substantial damage. Aircraft crashed short of runway after engines malfunctioned for unknown reasons. There was fuel in tanks selected.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
