ON THE DAY OF THE ACCIDENT, THE PLT REFUELED THE ACFT, COMPLETED A NORMAL PWR RUN-UP AND TOOK OFF. SHORTLYAFTER TAKEOFF, A PWR LOSS NECESSITATED A FORCED LANDING ON TIDAL FLATS. THE ACFT NOSED OVER AFTER THE RIGHT GEAR COLLAPSED UPON ENCOUNTERING A DEPRESSION. APRX ONE GALLON OF FUEL WAS DRAINED FROM THE FUEL SUMP AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE SAMPLE SHOWED WATER AND SOLID PARTICULATES. THE ENG WAS THEN STARTED AND IT RAN NORMALLY.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19860504040579A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19860504040579A), May 4, 1986: Luscom 8E, Juneau, AK, Substantial damage. Engine quit after takeoff. Nosed over during the landing on a tidal flat. Water found in the fuel system.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
