## Probable cause

PILOT DID NOT MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE DURING THE LANDING ROLL.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of control - on ground/water, landing - roll
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (cause)
  - remedial action - inadequate, pilot in command (contributing factor)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, landing - roll
  - terrain condition - runway

## Analysis

DURING THE LANDING ROLL, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE AIRPLANE BEGAN TO VEER TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT APPLIED HARD RIGHT BRAKE; HOWEVER, THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO TRAVEL TO THE LEFT AND OFF THE RUNWAY. A CONTROLLER ON DUTY AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT REPORTED THAT THE AIRPLANE BALLOONED PRIOR TO VEERING TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL FAILURES OR MALFUNCTIONS WITH THE AIRPLANE PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
