## Probable cause

THE PILOT DID NOT FLARE THE AIRPLANE ON LANDING. FACTORS RELATED TO THE ACCIDENT WERE: THE PILOT DID NOT ADEQUATELY RECOVER FROM A BOUNCED LANDING AND THE NOSE GEAR ASSEMBLY FAILED IN OVERLOAD.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Nose gear collapsed, landing - flare/touchdown
  - landing gear, nose gear assembly - overload (contributing factor)
  - lift-off - not performed, pilot in command (cause)
  - recovery from bounced landing - inadequate, pilot in command (contributing factor)

## Analysis

AT THE END OF A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT, DURING LANDING, THE AIRPLANE BOUNCED THREE TIMES BEFORE THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE AIRPLANE SLID TO A STOP.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19901002046809A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19901002046809A), Oct 2, 1990: Beech 58, Seattle, WA, Substantial damage. Observed to land nose first. Porpoised. Nose gear collapsed. Nose gear fork showed torsional overload. New fracture

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
