## Probable cause

ENGINE FUEL SYSTEM BLOCKAGE DUE TO ICE FORMATION IN THE FUEL SYSTEM DURING A PERIOD OF WEATHER TEMPERATURE EXTREMES. A FACTOR WAS THE LACK OF SUITABLE TERRAIN FOR A FORCED LANDING.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Loss of engine power(partial) - nonmechanical, climb - to cruise
  - fuel system - blocked(total) (cause)
  - weather condition - temperature extremes
- Forced landing, descent - emergency
  - terrain condition - none suitable (contributing factor)
- Ditching, descent - emergency

## Analysis

THE ACFT LOST POWER WHILE IN A NORMAL CLIMB ABOUT 5 MINUTES AFTER TAKEOFF. THE PILOT WAS NOT ABLE TO RESTART THE ENGINE AND ELECTED TO DITCH THE ACFT IN THE GREAT SALT GREAT.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
