## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S DISREGARD OF THE AIRPLANE'S PERFORMANCE CAPABILITY. CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACCIDENT WAS HIGH DENSITY ALTITUDE.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with terrain/water, go-around (vfr)
  - weather condition - high density altitude (contributing factor)
  - proper climb rate - not possible, pilot in command(cfi)
  - aircraft performance,climb capability - exceeded (cause)
  - performance data - disregarded, pilot in command(cfi) (cause)

## Analysis

THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR STATED THAT HE PULLED THE ENGINE IN ORDER TO OBSERVE THE PRIVATE PILOT'S EMERGENCY PROCEDURES, THEN HE DEMONSTRATED A DIFFERENT TECHNIQUE. DURING THE RECOVERY, THE AIRCRAFT WAS UNABLE TO INITIATE A CLIMB, AND SETTLED INTO THE TERRAIN, WHERE IT TURNED OVER AND STOPPED.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
