## Probable cause

AN ABORTED TAKEOFF WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE WET, SOFT RUNWAY WAS A FACTOR.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Overrun, takeoff - roll/run
  - terrain condition - soft (contributing factor)
  - aborted takeoff - not performed, pilot in command (cause)
- On ground/water encounter with terrain/water, takeoff - roll/run
  - terrain condition - dirt bank/rising embankment

## Analysis

DURING THE TAKEOFF GROUND RUN, ON A WET, AND SOFT DIRT AIRSTRIP, THE AIRPLANE WAS UNABLE TO ATTAIN AN ADEQUATE GROUND SPEED TO BECOME AIRBORNE. THE AIRPLANE RAN OFF THE END OF THE AIRSTRIP, COLLIDED WITH A DIRT BANK, FENCE AND OTHER OBJECTS BEFORE COMING TO REST.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920220003239A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920220003239A), Feb 20, 1992: Cessna 182D, Monroe, UT, Substantial damage. Slow acceleration on takeoff roll. Failed to abort. Ran off into fence and berm. Sod runway wet and soft.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
