## Analysis

THE STUDENT PILOT OF THE BRANTLY-HYNES B-2B INITIATED A RIGHT PEDAL-TURN WHILE IN THE HOVER, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE ROTATION. WHEN THE CERTIFIED FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TOOK CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT, HE FOUND THAT HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO STOP THE ROTATION WITH FULL PEDAL DEFLECTION. HE THEREFORE ELECTED TO ATTEMPT AN AUTOROTATIONAL LANDING, BUT DURING THIS ATTEMPT, THE AIRCRAFT ROLLED OVER AND IMPACTED THE GROUND.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19920513014749A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920513014749A), May 13, 1992: Hynes B2A, Hood River, OR, Substantial damage. Student lost tail rotor effectiveness during hover pedal turn. CFI took over tried autoration. Rolled on impact.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
