## Probable cause

THE PREMATURE LIFT OFF BY THE PILOT. FACTORS RELATING TO THE ACCIDENT WERE THE SOFT, ROUGH TURF AIRSTRIP AND THE HIGH OBSTRUCTIONS AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- In flight collision with object, takeoff - initial climb
  - terrain condition - soft (contributing factor)
  - terrain condition - rough/uneven (contributing factor)
  - terrain condition - high obstruction(s) (contributing factor)
  - lift-off - premature, pilot in command (cause)
  - object - tree(s)
- In flight collision with terrain/water, descent - uncontrolled

## Analysis

THE PILOT INITIATED A TAKEOFF ON A SOFT, ROUGH, TURF AIRSTRIP, AND THE ACFT LIFTED OFF NEAR MIDFIELD AT A SLOW AIRSPEED IN A STEEP NOSE UP ATTITUDE. THE ACFT CLIMBED TO 50 TO 60 FT. AGL, LEVELED OFF, AND ROTATED INTO A STEEP NOSE UP ATTITUDE NEAR THE END OF THE STRIP. THE ACFT DESCENDED INTO TREES AT THE END OF THE STRIP IN A WINGS LEVEL, NOSE UP ATTITUDE.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
