## Probable cause

THE PILOT'S PREMATURE LIFTOFF. THE PILOT'S FAILURE TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND THE HIGH VEGETATION BESIDE THE RUNWAY WERE FACTORS.

## Sequence of events

In NTSB's coding before 2008 (https://www.ntsb.gov/GILS/Documents/codman.pdf).

- Dragged wing,rotor,pod,float or tail/skid, takeoff - initial climb
  - terrain condition - high vegetation (contributing factor)
  - directional control - not maintained, pilot in command (contributing factor)
  - lift-off - premature, pilot in command (cause)

## Analysis

DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO DRIFT INTO HIGH GRASS OUTSIDE OF THE MOWED AREA OF THE TURF RUNWAY. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO PREMATURELY LIFTOFF DURING WHICH THE AIRCRAFT'S RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND.

## FAA reports on this event (1)

The FAA's own accident and incident reports, matched to the aircraft by N-number and date (OpenAirDocs).

- [Accident 19930516014549A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19930516014549A), May 16, 1993: Amtr GR2, Buckley, WA, Destroyed. Veered into unmowed portion of grass runway on takeoff roll. Tried early liftoff but wing stalled. Impacted ground.

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
