## Summary

This document proposes the adoption of a new airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to certain McDonnell Douglas Model MD-90-30 series airplanes. This proposal would require an inspection of the wiring in the left-hand tunnel area of the forward cargo compartment for evidence of chafing, and repair, if necessary. This action is necessary to prevent such chafing, which could result in subsequent shorting to structure, and consequent smoke and possible fire in the airplane. This action is intended to address the identified unsafe condition.
