## Summary

This action withdraws a notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) that proposed to supersede an existing airworthiness directive (AD), applicable to certain Boeing Model 747-400 series airplanes. That action would have required the modification of certain distance measuring equipment (DME), which would terminate a previously required limitation of the FAA-approved Airplane Flight Manual (AFM) that prohibits terminal area and enroute area navigation operations under certain conditions. Since the issuance of the NPRM, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has issued separate rulemaking that requires installation of the modification proposed in the NPRM. Accordingly, the proposed rule is withdrawn.
