## Summary

This document proposes the adoption of a new airworthiness directive (AD) that is applicable to certain de Havilland Model DHC-8- 301, -311, -314, and -315 series airplanes. This proposal would require installation of additional wiring and new electrical connectors for the lights in the forward end of the passenger overhead compartments. This proposal is prompted by issuance of mandatory continuing airworthiness information by a foreign civil airworthiness authority. The actions specified by the proposed AD are intended to prevent severe overheating of the electrical connectors for hte lights in the forward end of the passenger overhead compartments, which could result in smoke and fire in the passenger cabin.
