## Discrepancy

DOOR LATCH CAN VIBRATE OPEN DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS. IT IS ALSO EASILY BUMPED IN FLIGHT. DOOR OPENING DURING TAXI/TAKEOFF/ FLIGHT RESULTS IN ABORTED MANEUVERS AND LOST EQUIPMENT AS IT FALLS OUT OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE UNRELIABLE NATURE OF THE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM ALLOWS FOR INADVERTENT OPENING AND THE POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGED OR LOST SENSITIVE EQUIPMENT. WORKAROUND: THE PMO APPROVED A TEMPORARY FIX USING ZIP TIES AS RETENTION STRAPS TO PREVENT THE DOOR FROM OPENING. DEVELOP A DOOR LATCH MECHANISM THAT PREVENTS INADVERTENT OPENING. IDEALLY THIS ALSO INCLUDES THE ABILITY TO LOCK THE COCKPIT DOORS TO PREVENT UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS.
